In modern world a watch is not just an instrument that displays time. A watch is an accessory that displays your wealth, your status, your world view and your taste. This is the reason why choice of a watch is a very serious issue, because here everything matters.
When choosing a watch you must understand what you need a watch for. If you need a watch for every day wear, than a classic watch can become a really great choice for you. A jewelry watch will match an evening dress, while a sports watch is designed for people who are involved in sports or some other adventures that require a maximum reliable timepiece.
Whatever you need a watch for, you should pay your attention to the following things:
1. Movement
Movement is definitely the most important part of a watch, because movement is the heart of any timepiece. There are mechanical movements and quartz movements. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Mechanical watches are considered to be more prestigious. There are manually winding mechanical watches and automatic watches. Manually winding watches must be wound regularly, while automatic watches do not require manual winding, these are self-winding, however, an automatic watch requires constant wear. If you do not wear your automatic watch daily, you will have to wind it. Quartz watches do not require winding, these are powered by a battery that must be replaced once in 1 or 2 years.
Quartz watches are more accurate ones. However, quartz watches have shorter lifespan. This must not prevent you from buying a quartz watch, because a quartz watch is likely to serve you for 50 years or more –this is enough, isn’t it?
Among watches by prestigious manufacturers, such as Cartier, Chopard and many others you can find both mechanical and quartz watches. There are brands, that do not produce quartz watches, for instance, Blancpain. What to replica watches, these are usually powered by quartz movements. The reason is very simple: replica watches are designed to be cheap imitations of original watches. Since quartz movements are cheaper than mechanical ones, it is quite logical that manufacturers of replica watches equip their timepieces with quartz movements.
2. Material
The material of which your watch is made is very important, because materials differ one from another by durability and price. Stainless steel is considered to be one of the best materials for watches. Plastic watches are not so durable, however, some prestigious brands offer plastic watches. A watch that is made of aluminum alloy will not serve you for a long time. Titanium alloy (not pure titanium) is a lightweight and flexible material, what is more, it is hypoallergenic. However, such alloy has a disadvantage – it is not scratch-resistant. Ceramic, that is used in watches, is a very durable material, however, it is very heavy. Gold is quite a soft metal, however, it looks very luxurious. Platinum watches look great, but platinum is a very expensive materials. Prestigious brands use in their watches stainless steel, gold, platinum, ceramic and titanium. Keep in mind that replica watches never contain expensive materials. Being cheap imitations of genuine watches by famous brands, replica watches are made of cheaper materials.
3. Bracelet
Some watches have a bracelet, others come with a strap. Both variants are nice and both have their advantages and disadvantages. Leather straps are very elastic, however, they do not serve for a long time, so an owner of a watch with a leather strap must replace the strap regularly. Metal bracelets are more durable, however, most of them are not so comfortable to wear.
4. Glass
Glass protects dial and hands. There are three types of glass: plastic glass, mineral glass and sapphire crystal glass. Plastic glass is cheap and shock-proof, however, it is very easy to scratch. What to mineral glass, it is more scratch-resistant than plastic glass, however, it is less scratch-resistant than sapphire crystal. Sapphire crystal is very durable and very scratch resistant, but it is very expensive.
5. Shock resistance
As a rule all sports watches are shock resistant. You should opt for a shock resistant watch if you are going to use the timepiece in situations where shock resistance is needed.
6. Water resistance
A waterproof watch can be used in water – while taking bath or shower, swimming or even diving. Waterproof watches differ one from another by the degree of water resistance – some of them are waterproof to 30 m, while others can be waterproof up to 300 m. A watch for diving must be waterproof at least to 100 m. Keep in mind that replica watches are not waterproof. Those who need a watch for diving must not opt for replica watches, even for those replica watches that imitate watches for diving. Never swim or take shower with a relica watch.
